Jody was born in 1972 in Reynolds, Georgia. He grew up in Reynolds and graduated from Taylor County High School. Following graduation he attended Georgia College in Milledgeville and he is a graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta.

Jody is married to the former Angela Morton of Kathleen, Georgia, and they have two beautiful daughters, Jordan Abigail and Anabelle Macy. He and his family are members of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Jody is dedicated to the community through his involvement in various civic organizations as well as his involvement in his church. In his spare time Jody enjoys hunting, fishing, Georgia Bulldog football, and spending time with his family.

Jody has over twenty-five years of dedicated experience in the funeral service. During college he spent a summer working at Goddard Funeral Home in Reynolds. It was at this time that he decided to become a funeral director and enrolled in mortuary school. He chose this profession as a result of his love for people and being able to minister to the community.

After graduation from Gupton-Jones, he served his apprenticeship under Jimmy McCullough. He went on to become the manager of three funeral homes: Goddard Funeral Homes in Reynolds & Roberta, and Edwards Funeral Home in Butler, Georgia. It was while simultaneously managing these funeral homes that he was offered the position of manager at another local funeral home. Jody has spent almost all of his twenty-five year career here in Houston County. 

It has always been a dream of Jody's to own and operate his own funeral home, and that dream is now a reality. Jody considers funeral service a ministry in which he is honored and fortunate to serve.
