Obituary for Adriane Griggs (Downs)

Reynolds, GA – Adriane Downs Griggs, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2022, at her daughter’s residence with her family at her bedside. Services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 4:00 pm at Butler United Methodist Church with interment immediately following at Butler Memorial Cemetery. The visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Butler Memorial Cemetery, Butler, GA 31006.
Adriane was born on July 8, 1938, in Rupert, GA to the late Cecil Martin Downs and the late Charity Rebecca (Rogers) Downs. She was a graduate of Taylor County High School and attended Berry College in Rome, GA. Adriane worked civil service at Robins Air Force Base until her retirement. She also retired from Taylor County Board of Education, where she worked as a Title 1 Administrator in the math department. Adriane enjoyed traveling with her husband, “Goose” the clown working for Geren Amusements, sewing, crafting, and playing the piano. She was an active member at Butler United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. Adriane enjoyed playing piano at church and singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, Adriane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Clay “Goose” Griggs, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Cynthia “Cyndi” Griggs Melton of Reynolds, GA; sons: Henry Clay “Buddy” Griggs, Jr. of Reynolds, GA and Martin Collis “Marty” Griggs of Savannah, GA; grandchildren: Shelby Elizabeth Bird (Crystal Lee), Adriane Michelle “Addey” Godfrey, Michael Godfrey, Billy Godfrey (Sarah), Jason Godfrey (Ashley), Lily Rivera (Gabriel), Sasha Walker, Amanda Walker, Clay Griggs, Sierra Ellis, Emily Griggs, and John Griggs; great-grandchildren: Evalith Rivera, Malaciah Rivera, Analith Rivera, Zacariah Rivera, Skylar Finger, Laila Finger, Alyssa Lee, Zayn Kovacic and Khloe Rodriguez.
