Obituary for Albert Sidney Johnston

Warner Robins, GA – Albert S. Johnston, 59, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 after an extended illness. A “drop in” celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 beginning at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the family residence.
Albert was born on April 5, 1961 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Charles and Martha (Garrett) Johnston. He worked as a Software Engineer at Robins Air Force Base until his health forced him to retire. Albert was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University, Geaux Tigers! Albert had a unique sense of humor, dark, quick, witty, and filled with puns. Though his “tough exterior” was not a façade, he loved full-heartily and had a special love for animals of all kinds. His family was his true pride; He provided a loving home of care, respect, compassion and support to his wife and children; but also all opened his heart and home to all. He enjoyed building electronics and just “tinkering” in general. Towards the end of his life, his yard became his mission; “Brenda’s Park” was his final project leaving his memory in the form of an oasis in the family home’s backyard.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, of 31 years, Brenda (Wellborn) Johnston of Warner Robins; children: Elijah Wellborn (Jessica) of Macon, Charles Donald Johnston (Melanie) of Macon, Crystal Johnston Harrell (Lance) of Warner Robins, Lucy and Luke Johnston of Warner Robins; grandchildren: Rosanna, Haley, Sierra and Evan; great-grandson: Liam.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. His remains will be placed to rest in Batesville, Mississippi alongside his beloved parents. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Operation Smile, or Serenity Hospice in Warner Robins.
