Obituary for Bruce Miles

Kathleen, GA – Alfred Bruce Miles, 63, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at his residence with his family at his bedside. He fought ALS valiantly for 5 years and is now running into his Savior’s arms, pain-free. Services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. at Bonaire United Methodist Church with Reverend Jay Tucker and Mr. Larry West officiating the service. The visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bonaire United Methodist Church, 221 Church St, Bonaire, GA 31005, or to Andrew Womack Ministries at www.awmi.net.

Bruce was born on February 8, 1959, in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Alfred Edgar Miles and Joyce (Sadler) Miles. As a child, Bruce lived in various cities across the country: Denver, New Orleans, and Houston, to name a few, because his father traveled as an Exxon geologist. He graduated high school in Houston, TX and attended college at Texas Tech University, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Georgia after accepting a position with Blue Bird Body Company, where he worked for 30+ years until retirement. While in Georgia, he met the love of his life, Kimberly Payne, and they were happily married for 31 years. He loved to return to Texas to spend time at the family farm in Bullard.

A talented engineer, there wasn’t a problem that Bruce couldn’t solve, and he found joy in taking care of others. There’s nothing Bruce loved more than his two girls, Kim and Amelia. He loved the Lord, always put God first in his home, instilled Godly values in his daughter, Amelia, at an early age, and encouraged the same of her husband, Logan. He faithfully served and worshipped at Bonaire United Methodist Church, where he held numerous ministry roles, attended and led Men’s Retreats, and consistently gave of his time and talents. Bruce was a quiet man, but when he spoke people listened. He had a gentle, comforting spirit just like our Savior, Jesus.

Left to cherish his memory, is his beloved wife, Kim (Payne) Miles of Kathleen, GA; daughter: Amelia (Miles) Duncan (Logan) of Kathleen, GA; mother: Joyce (Sadler) Miles of Tyler, TX; sister: Cheri Hood (Robin) of Bullard, TX; brother: John Miles (Susanne) of Jacksonville, NC; niece: Sara Youmans (Jimmy) of Bullard, TX; nephews: Miles Hood (Katie) of Houston, TX, Duncan Miles and Shepherd Miles both of Jacksonville, NC.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
