Obituary for Alisha Shonkia Owens

Perry, GA – Alisha Shonkia Owens, 44, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 1, 2021. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11:00 am, at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Reverend Billy Heard will be officiating the services. Masks are strongly encouraged.
Alisha was born on May 27, 1977, in Fort Valley, GA to Mrs. Maybelle (Scott) Bryant and the late James Lane, Sr. She graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, WI. She worked as a medical record clerk. Alisha accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Hope Church. She loved helping people and spent her spare time working with the Women’s Single ministry, cooking and baking. Alisha served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate. She stood up and provided a voice for abused and neglected children who are involved in foster care in Houston County. You never had to wonder what Alisha was thinking.
Alisha was predeceased by her father, James Lane, Sr., her siblings: Sophia Adams-Gibbs (niece- “sister”), James Lane, Jr., Keith Lane, James Scott, and Angela Lane.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter, Anaya Owens, Perry; her loving mother, Maybelle Scott Bryant; her nieces – “sisters”: Tomitka and Kenyatta; her siblings: Shirley Adams (Albert) Perry; Barbara Allen (Wayne) Warner Robins; Jacqueline Owens, Warner Robins; Tammy Thomas, Perry; Damon Owens (Kenya) Macon; Johnathan Gilbert, SC; her aunts: Doris Lane, Katherine Washington, Ruth Macon, Charlie May Brown (Theodis), Annie Heard (Billy), Debra Chestnut, and Brenda Galbreaith, and her uncles: Arbie Lane and Willie Scott.; and numerous nieces, nephew and extended family.
