Obituary for Alvin Cainion Jr.

Alvin Cainion Jr. was born June 30, 1938 in Kathleen, GA to the parentage of the late Alvin Cainion Sr. and Emma Bell Hudson Cainion.
Alvin Jr. was a lifelong resident of Houston County where he received his education. As a child growing up in rural Georgia, Alvin’s love for the land and growing things took hold and lead to his life’s work as a farmer and craftsman. For more than 60 years, he was the lifeblood of Cainion Farms.
Alvin Jr.’s spiritual lineage stems from a family deeply rooted in the Primitive Baptist Church. In 2007, he gave his life to Christ at Mount Nebo Primitive Baptist Church and served faithfully until his health failed. He worked diligently in the vineyard doing whatever was needed as deacon and servant.
While he was a hard worker, Alvin Jr. enjoyed playing and coaching baseball. He always made time to watch or listen to his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He would even take time off work to watch his children Alex and Carla play ball. He tried with Cynthia and Sandra but… that DID NOT work.
Alvin always kept up with current events by reading the newspaper daily. He maintained subscriptions to the Macon Telegraph and News, The Daily Sun, and Houston Home Journal for over 40 years.
Also Known As Mr. Fix It, Alvin was truly a jack-of-all trades and a master of none. This included “fixing” things around the house and on the farm. There was nothing that duct tape couldn’t fix. He could always find a way to make it work!
On July 3, 1965, Alvin married the love of his life, Mary Lee King. To this union four children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and lifelong helpmate, Mary Cainion; children: Cynthia Cainion ( ), Alex Cainion (Marcia), Sandra Hess and Carla Thorpe (Willie); grandchildren: Tyler Hess, Brandon Cainion, Cameron Hess (Emily) and Summer Thorpe.
Six brothers: Eddie Joe Cainion (Vivian), Daniel Cainion (Nina), Samuel Cainion (Elizabeth), Andrew Cainion, Jordan Cainion (Emmalene), Jessie Cainion (Sarah); three sisters: Annie Bell Simpson, Geneva Witter (Gary), Bernice Johnson; sisters-in-law, Martha Brown, Gabberdine King, Dorothy Davis, Dorothy Hickey, Shirley Rumph (Bobby) and Nancy Cainion; brother-in-law, James Ambler (Jackie); one aunt, Beatrice Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Collis Morrison, Willie Mae Holmes, Earline Findley, Carolyn Tunnell, Willie “WC” Whittaker, Taylor Cainion and Calloway Cainion.

With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
