Obituary for Ann Leila Small (Freidman)

Byron, GA – Ann Leila (Freidman) Small, 85, passed away at her home on April 2, 2020 with her family by her bedside. Services celebrating her life will be private.
Ann was born on October 2, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Morris and Nellie (Bauer) Freidman. She retired from Marriott Lincolnshire as a hospitality coordinator. Ann lived a wonderful life full of adventure and excitement. She was privileged to party with the likes of Merle Haggard, Jon Bon Jovi and many other artists. Ann loved dancing and music, especially Janis Joplin and Bette Midler. Ann never met a stranger. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking and just having a good time. Her family was the most important thing in her life. Ann loved animals; in fact, she was a foster home to many kittens. Ann was married by the Justice of the peace just before her husband, James was to enter the military. Their budget was very small to say the least, so the Justice of the peace returned the marriage fee back to the newlywed couple as a wedding gift. Ann always wanted the nice wedding full of dancing and celebration, which she received as she and James renewed their vows at their daughter’s wedding. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, James Ray Small.
Ann’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Care Options for the loving and attentive care they gave to their mother.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter’s: Candace Johnson (Erik) of Forsyth, GA and Christine Wilcox (David) of Byron, GA; 5 grandchildren: Ashley Diehl (Tim), Robert Johnson, Danielle George (Joseph), Austin Wilcox and Michael Soby (Samantha); 3 great-grandchildren: James George, Kayleigh Diehl and Noah Soby; brother: Lee Schneider (Linda) of Oak Forest, IL.; cousin: Karen Borden (David) of Bolingbrook, Il.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
