Obituary for Barbara G. Chastain (Emmert)

Warner Robins, GA – Barbara G. (Emmert) Chastain, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Houston Medical Center. We know Barbara anxiously awaited seeing her Lord and Savior, Jesus, but oh what a reunion it must have been for she and Andrew! The visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. The services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel with interment immediately following at Parkway Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jim Perdue will be officiating the services.
Barbara was born on March 2, 1959, in Annapolis, MD, and grew up on the Chesapeake Bay where she lived until she moved to Warner Robins to be closer to several loved ones in the area. She graduated high school from Southern High in Harwood, MD. While in high school she followed in her grandmother’s footsteps and obtained her certification as a cosmetologist from Anne Arundal Community College. Once relocating to Georgia, she obtained several business certifications from local technical colleges, and worked in the accounting field for many years until she needed to stay home to focus more on Andrew’s care. While staying home caring for Andrew, Barbara began caring for many other children in the community. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, baking, and shopping, especially shoe shopping! You could also always find her attending a birthday party or shower, and she came with the prettiest wrapped, sometimes homemade gifts. She always kept an open-door policy at her home, welcoming anyone who entered as part of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her Second Baptist Church family and worshipping the Lord. Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Chastain, her father, John Emmert, and grandparents, Captain Whitey and Pauline Wilde.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Stephanie Watson (Larry) of Warner Robins, GA; mother: Barbara (Wiggins) Miller of Bonaire, GA; grandchildren: Madison and Aaron Watson; loving friend: Bill Chastain; sisters: Verna Lee (David) of Byron, GA, Jody Haines (Robert) of Kathleen, GA, and Paula Bradley of Kathleen, GA; brothers: Jimmy Emmert (Lori) of Laurel, MD, Paul Emmert of Sacramento, CA, and Robert Miller of Stevensville, MD; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
