Byron, GA – Charles “Charlie” Douglas Coleman, 79, returned to his Heavenly Father and his Savior on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, with his family at his bedside. Due to the Covid pandemic and family members being exposed, we have changed to a private, graveside service. We would love for you to share memories on the Burpee-Scott obituary page or on Charlie's facebook page.

Charlie was born on March 31, 1942, in Swainsboro, GA to the late Elisha Duncan Coleman and Irene (Scarboro) Coleman. Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Charles Vance Coleman; granddaughter, Charlie James Coleman; and siblings, Edwin Coleman, Jerry Coleman, and Ovedia Engles. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherri Bonner Coleman; his children, Rhonda Clater (Tom), Kristin Martin (Ryan), and Dusty Coleman (Stephanie); siblings, Frank Coleman (Susie), Joy Boatright, and Sharon Lewis; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and multiple nieces and nephews.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the National Guard. Charlie retired from Pactiv Corporation, where he worked as a machinist. Charlie founded C&T Industrial Machine Shop, Inc. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a Clerk, an Elder Quorum President, in a Sunday School presidency, stake activities coordinator, and served in the Atlanta Temple as an ordinance worker for 6 years. Charlie was a master mason and member of Lodge 110 for 28 ½ years and served as chaplain for the lodge. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, cooking, grilling, eating, and spending time with his family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you and love to Kathy Mitchell (Charlie’s Angel) for her unwavering love and dedication to making Charlie’s life the best it could be throughout his last six months.
