Charles E.E. Sanborn II, a longtime resident of Macon, passed away peacefully in his home August 18th, surrounded in the deep affection (in person and in spirit) of those he loved.
Adventuresome (sometimes misadventuresome), Charles's wit, charm and warmth nonetheless inspired a surprising degree of devotion among family and friends. And he never stopped loving Jesus.
He spent his working life crisscrossing the southeast as an ironworker and later as a nurse, graduating first in his class at the age of 65.
In retirement he loved spending time with family and friends, riding the back roads of Georgia and Tennessee, and filling up on pot luck, fellowship, music and the Word at the Wimbish Road Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was a longtime member.
His memory will be fondly carried by his children, Charles (III) and Virginia Sanborn of Ivanhoe, Virginia; Rick and Sharon Sanborn of Brevard, North Carolina; and Shannon and Toby Augé of Collegedale, Tennessee. Charles also leaves behind two grandchildren, Charles (IV) Sanborn of Boise, Idaho, and Patrick Augé of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved caregiver Vanessa Moore of Macon.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
