Obituary for Clifford Eugene Cormany, Jr.

Clifford "Cliff" Eugene Cormany, Jr., 75, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020, after an extended illness. Services celebrating his life have been canceled due to the rise in Covid cases.
Cliff was born on October 24, 1945, in Rome, GA, to the late Clifford Eugene and Sarah Beulah Cormany. He earned a Bachelor of Business Degree from Auburn University and was a Marine Underwriter for two years with Aetna Insurance Company. Cliff was an FBI Special Agent from 1969 to 1996, and his assignments took him to Albany, and Syracuse, NY, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Atlanta. After retiring from the FBI, Cliff established a private investigative company in which he did countless polygraph examinations until he retired in 2015.
During his FBI career, Cliff worked on numerous complex cases, primarily organized crimes and public corruptions. In one undercover assignment which resulted in the conviction of a public official, the defendant appealed the case which ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court and was decided in favor of Cliff’s actions. Cliff was very active as a polygraph examiner, serving as the principle polygraph examiner for the Atlanta division of the FBI during his last six years in the Bureau. His nation-wide reputation as a polygraph examiner resulted in his involvement in numerous prominent cases all over the U.S., both with the FBI and in the private sector.
Cliff was a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. He loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed traveling, playing wall ball, telling jokes, cooking and spending time outdoors fishing.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Pam Cormany; his children: Carrie Cormany Newman (Allen) and Will Cormany (Sheri); 2 step-children: Morandi Velez (Rafael) and Ryan Pape (Andra); 2 grandchildren: Jessie Newman Gingras and Jack Newman; 6 step-grandchildren: Brooklyn Velez, Trinity Velez, Isaac Velez, Chloe Farill, Emmerson Pape and Haynes Pape; his great-grandchild: Ellis Gingras; his sister: Alice Cormany.
The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation, The Salvation Army or Alzheimer's Association.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
