Obituary for Deborah Jean Spencer (Hopkins)

East Concord, NY- Deborah Jean (Hopkins) Spencer, 69, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Navicent Hospice Pine Pointe in Macon, GA on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Services will be private and held at a later date in Western New York when she returns home.
Deborah was born on August 27, 1952, in Springville, NY to the late Charles Hopkins and the late Margaret (Cole) Halstead. She was a family care and respite provider for Western NY Developmental Disabilities Services Office for 35 years. She was also a beloved caregiver and guardian to Ann Litwinski and Rita Scharf. Deborah devoted her life to serving others and always put others before herself. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, cross stitching and spending time with her grandchildren. Deborah was also known for her green thumb. She could plant and grow beautiful flowers and plants and in previous years she enjoyed vegetable gardening. She was also an amazing decorator, who had the most beautiful home. Deborah was a member of the Sardinia United Methodist Church in Sardinia, NY, where she volunteered in the closet-to-closet ministry.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Spencer; brothers: Dennis and Dale Hopkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jennifer Spencer-Pieterick (Douglas Pieterick) of Bonaire, GA, and Nicole Spencer-Whiting (Rodney Horton, Jr.) of Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren: Paige and Noah Pieterick; sister: Diane Yocum; brothers: David and Duane Hopkins.
The family would also like to acknowledge Dale and Mary Doud, Dan and Helen Spencer, Connie Lindsley, and David Hopkins for their love, dedication and support for Deborah during her illness.
