Obituary for Dorothy Stephens (Windham)
Warner Robins, GA – Dorothy (Windham) Stephens, 91, joined her beloved husband of 70 years, Vineyard, on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She passed peacefully at home. Services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, 2:00 PM at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel with interment immediately following at Parkway Memorial Gardens. A viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. The family has requested that anyone attending the services wear a mask.
Dorothy was born September 4, 1930, in rural Reynolds, GA to the late Jessie Green and Nora Maude (Peterman) Windham; she was one of seven children. Her life was a radiant example of her faith. Dorothy was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, and trusted friend. She was known by all who met her for her sweet, kind, generous nature and her warm smile. She always put others before herself, and never spoke an ill word about anyone. She was a long-time member of Oakland Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Vineyard Stephens; brothers, Troy and Julian; and sister, Irene.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Marilyn Stephens, Dale and Julie Stephens, and Chris Stephens; six grandchildren: Josh Stephens (Melanie), Scott Stephens (Maryann), Ryan Stephens (Amanda), Jamie Stephens (Kerrie), Shiloh Duplechien (Brad), and Megan Griffin (Jason); thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers: Leon, Pat, and Lamar Windham.
