Obituary for Elsa Marshall (Peréz)

Warner Robins, GA – Elsa (Peréz) Marshall, 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her residence. A memorial mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Monsignor Fred Nijem will be officiating.
Elsa was born on December 1, 1932 in Vieques, Puerto Rico to the late Juan Peréz Pimentel and Haydee Villafañe (Casanova) Peréz. She was a retired civil servant from Robins Air Force Base where she was a kindergarten teacher. Elsa loved traveling; in fact, she learned the languages of each of her husband’s overseas duty stations. She was very active in her Puerto Rican culture; she enjoyed gardening and loved to cook. Elsa loved her family and always put others before herself. She was a very dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served and worshipped faithfully.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Barbara Lynn Marshall and Jenna Marie Harter both of Warner Robins, GA; son: John Arthur Marshall of Warner Robins, GA; daughter: Carmen Elena Marshall-Claude of Niceville, FL, brother: Isaac “Juanchito” Peréz of Fall Brook, CA; 3 grandsons: Adam Harter, Joseph Sims Marshall and Noah Harter.
Please visit www.burpeescottmemorialchapel.com to sign the online guestbook, view the video tribute and to leave a memorial for the family. With honor Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Dear Family,

Please accept my condolences. The sting of death is hard to bear. Our Heavenly Father, Jehovah, understands our sorrow. He doesn’t want us hurting. In fact, in His Word, the Bible, He gives us encouragement. It’s explained in His Word about why death and suffering happen. Additionally, He helps us to understand that this was not meant to be. Acts 24:15, in the Bible, notes that there will be a resurrection! Revelation 21:4 mentions that our Creator promises that death, mourning, and pain will be things of the past. What’s more, 1 Corinthians 15:26 confirms that death will be brought to nothing. Imagine that! A world in which there’ll be no more death. Can you picture it?

I am encouraging you to take heart! Currently, your loved one is now resting. But, in the very near future, that loved one will be raised---resurrected---to the prospect of living here, on earth—FOREVER! This is a PROMISE from our Creator, HIMSELF! Isn’t that wonderful, good news? I hope these words of encouragement have done for you what I have intended for them to do. And, that is, to provide you with some comfort, peace, and strength. For further spiritual information and encouragement, I invite you to visit JW.org

Barbara and Jenna, I was very sorry to hear of Elsa's passing. I loved working with Elsa at Linwood Elementary! She was fun to be around, very professional, very caring, and a great teacher. i remember when she got her Master's Degree. She had a Fiesta at her home. The men stayed up all night roasting a pig, and all the ladies brought traditional Puerto Rican food. It was a fun time, and we were all so proud of her. I know you will carry many loving memories in your hearts of her and will treasure them forever. My condolences to all of your family.

Barbara Marshall

Mom had a heart attack in 2015. She recovered and returned to WR in 2017. Her dementia progressed and she had an extended hospital stay in Warner Robins at Houston Medical and another month at Regency in Macon to come off the ventilator.
We got her home in early January where she wanted to be.
Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by her children.
Thank you for all of the loving care as you say your goodbyes.
Barbara, Jenna, John, and Carmen
