Obituary for Elsie Montine Carter (Garrison)

Perry, GA – Elsie Montine (Garrison) Carter, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at her residence. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606. The services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606 with interment immediately following in Oconee Hills Cemetery. Reverend Wayne Edwards will be officiating the services.

Montine was born on December 4, 1924 in Athens, GA to the late Jesse and Roxie (Kellum) Garrison. She took considerable pride in being a homemaker and always put her family first. Montine came from a large family and was one of 13 children. Montine enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers and taking care of her home. She loved her two sons and daughter-in-laws with all of her heart and all of her brothers, sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by all she left behind. She was strong in her faith and was the epitome of a Godly lady. In addition to her parents, Montine was preceded in death by her husbands, William Ernest Cobb of Athens, GA and Willard E. (Zeak) Carter of Madison County,

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: William “Cody” Cobb and wife Ruth Cobb of Perry, GA; Gary Cobb and wife Karen Cobb of Perry, GA; two granddaughters: Penny Courtney and husband Terry Courtney of Auburn, GA; Jessi Kraus and husband Chris Kraus of Marietta, GA; three great-grandchildren: Nicki Brookshire and husband Barry Brookshire of Auburn, GA Gage Kraus and Brodie Kraus both of Marietta, GA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
