Obituary for Frances Grace Sweet (Seegars)

Warner Robins, GA – Frances Grace (Seegars) Sweet, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Unit. Services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. The family will receive friends at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
Frances was born on June 22, 1932 in Flat Creek, SC to the late Fletcher and Alma (Gardner) Seegars. She owned and operated Frances’ Sweet Shop in Richard B. Russell Federal Building, Atlanta, GA, and was a snack bar operator with Georgia Co-Op for the Blind for several years. Frances enjoyed playing games with friends, specifically UNO, before she became blind. She loved traveling to Boston to spend time at her husband’s cabin and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husbands, Rex P. Thornley and Arthur Sweet.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Catherine E. Scoggins of Warner Robins and Rex P. Thornley, Jr. (Debbie) of Macon; grandchildren: Allison Halford (Hamilton), Joshua Thornley (Ashby), Amanda Thornley, Terri Harris (Eric) and Ricky Scoggins; great-grandchildren: Caitlin V. Bergman, Cameron O. Vincent, Gauge C. Harris, and Destiny Bohannon (Justin); great-great- grandchild: Aurora Meadow Wells.
