Obituary for Frederick Jackson Bell

Centerville, GA- Frederick Jackson Bell (Fred), 91, went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 4, 2022, while surrounded by his family. Memorial services to celebrate the life and legacy of Fred will be held at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 3:00 pm. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service for family and friends. The family will accept flowers but has asked that any donations be directed to the Saint Jude Children’s Cancer Research Center at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105 or Sandy Valley Baptist Church at 1124 South Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA, 31088.

Fred was born on September 6, 1931, in Macon, Georgia to the late Dewitt and Julia Bell. Fred spent most of his childhood in Macon where he attended and graduated from Lanier Highschool, class of 1951. Fred left home soon after graduating high school, answering the call of duty to serve his country in the United States Air Force. After getting out of the military he returned to Centerville, Georgia where he planted roots and began his career as an Aerospace Engineer Technician at Robins Air Force Base. Here he would also meet and marry the love of his life, Dale Bell (Predeceased July 22, 2019). The two spent 44 committed and faithful years together.

Fred retired From Robins Air Force Base after 31 years and answered the Lord’s calling into the ministry. Fred would go on to be ordained at his home church, Sandy Valley Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Fred devoted his life to spreading the Gospel of Jesus. Fred was a graduate of Emmaus Bible College, Senior member of the board of Directors for Canaan Land Prison Ministries where he served 7 prisons throughout the State of Georgia for 25 years. Fred also served 3 Fire Stations with Macon-Bibb Fire Department as a Chaplain and Bible teacher for 52 years. Fred retired from traveling ministry in 2018 but never ceased to spread the love of Jesus even up into his last days.

Fred enjoyed spending time with his loving family, fishing with his grandchildren, watching Georgia Tech football, and tending to his garden. Fred was also an avid stamp collector and an original founding member of the Houston Stamp Fanatics Club. Fred was known to so many by his proudest title, “Papa”, but to everyone who met him they were called friend. Fred was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents and loving wife, Fred is preceded in death by his 4 brothers: Dewitt Bell, Jr., Wilbur Bell, Hubert Bell, and Robert Bell.

Left to cherish the memories of Fred are daughters: Donna Bell of Macon, GA, Joanne Estes (Johnny) of fort Valley, GA; son: Bobby Dutcher (Vicki) of Palm Coast, Florida; grandchildren: Jodi Land, Tim Harwell, Deena Pecic (Gary), and Drew Dutcher (Whitney); great-grandchildren: Skyler Bryant (Haley), Gage Bryant, Tanner Harwell, Mason Harwell, Evie Harwell, Lorelei Dutcher, Benjamin Dutcher, Blake Pecic, Bryce Pecic and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
