George was born on April 27, 1934 in New Kensington, PA to the late George William Anderson and Olga (Nebeaur) Anderson. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he retired at the rank of Sergeant Major. George continued his service to his country as a civil service employee at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA, where he retired as the Chief of Police. He was a very hard working and dedicated man, who loved his country. George enjoyed woodworking, especially building bird houses and patios. He enjoyed working in his yard, but his greatest excitement was at Christmas, where he decorated the yard and house during the Christmas season. George loved his westerns, murder mystery shows and anything with “The Duke”, John Wayne. He was a huge John Wayne fan, in fact, while stationed at Fort Benning he was assigned to the security detail for John Wayne. George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Dorothy (McDonald) Anderson of Warner Robins; daughter: Debra Sue Anderson of Warner Robins; son: George William Anderson, III of Warner Robins and several other extended family and friends.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
