Austin Abney (46), born October 3rd 1975, was suddenly called home to heaven on October 17th, 2021. Austin was the son of Beverly and Kenneth Abney. He will forever be cherished by his loving wife Carolea, his daughter Chase, and his son Cole, and by all those who knew and loved him here on earth.

In celebration of Austin’s life, a visitation will be held at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 6pm-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held also on Friday, October 22nd at 11am at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. The family respectfully requests memorial contributions to The Westfield School by sending donations to The Westfield School, or The Westfield School, 2005 U.S. Hwy 41 South, Perry, GA 31069.

The Westfield School, a large part of Austin’s upbringing, laid the groundwork for Austin’s successes later in life. He was a great student and athlete. Among his many accomplishments, he earned the Houston Home Journal male athlete of the year his senior year (1993) and All-State in both basketball and golf two years in a row. He also won the Eric Staples Award and the prestigious annual Naismith Basketball Award.

Austin went on to graduate from University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Directly after college, he lived and worked in Atlanta before returning home to Perry.

Austin found his professional passion serving his community through Mobley Furniture. The love and everyday support he received was tremendous, and all of his Mobley Furniture family was and has continued to be an overwhelming blessing to Austin and his family. It was here that Austin found powerful and lasting friendships in both Ben Evans and Bob Brewer.

Austin was a member of Christ Chapel Warner Robins. He enjoyed music, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and living surrounded by the love of his life, Carolea, and his two wonderful children. He appreciated a good cup of caramel macchiato coffee, teaching his wife the “correct way” to hang laundry, joking, playing computer games, and teaching golf to his kids, and loving on his furry friends.

Austin is survived by his parents Beverly and Kenneth Abney, wife and best friend Carolea Abney, children Chase and Cole Abney, brother Tony Abney (wife Pam and son Heath), sister Jennifer Daley (husband Michael and children Kaitlyn and Jack), Aunt Betsy Portman (sons Josh and Corey and daughter Molly Bozeman), loving in-laws Fred and Betty Randolph, Dr. Matthew and Casey Randolph (sons Emerson and Karsten), and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly, including fur babies Cici, Peanut, and Kiwi.
