Obituary for Hubert Lewis McGahee Jr.
Perry, GA – Hubert Lewis McGahee, Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, GA. Services celebrating his life will be held on Friday. June 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with interment immediately following at Perry Memorial Gardens. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. The Reverend Efton Green will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 3380 Chastain Meadows Pkwy NW, Suite 200 Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Lewis was born on February 21, 1956, in Lyons, GA to the late Hubert Lewis McGahee, Sr. and the late Shirley Mae (Moseley) Fletcher. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Lewis worked for various airlines throughout his career, the last being with American Air Lines as a quality control specialist. In his spare time, Lewis enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his grandson, Randall Lewis McGahee, Jr.; sister: Margie Godfrey; brother: Mitchell Malpass.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Emma (Johnson) McGahee of Perry, GA; daughter: Wendy McGahee (James) of Phenix City, AL; son: Randy McGahee (Shella) of Warner Robins, GA; grandsons: Hunter McGahee, Hayden McGahee, Preston Smith, and Channing Smith; sister: Elizabeth Leathers of Jacksonville, FL.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lewis’s caregivers, Euland Griffith, Jannette Williams, and Dee McDonald for their amazing care and compassion.
