Obituary for Idalyne "Mam" Cooper (Stevens)

Butler, GA – Idalyne “Mam” Cooper, 96, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021. The viewing will be Saturday from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Crowell United Methodist Church with a graveside service immediately following at 3:00 pm at Crowell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Jon Huffmaster will be officiating the services.
Mam was born on October 31, 1924 in Laurel, MS to the late John and Evie (Bankston) Stevens. She worked most of her life as a homemaker always making sure the needs of her family were met. Mam was a longtime member of Crowell United Methodist Church, where she taught the children’s Sunday School class for many, many years. She will be laid to rest between the two loves of her life, Grady Averett and her son, Jim Cosey.
Mam spent her life caring for others. She enjoyed reading, cooking, catching up with her friends on the phone, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved granddaughter: Valori Moore (Todd); great-granddaughters: Brette and Hayli Moore; several nieces: Mavis Stevens, Michaeline Hodge, and Barbara Gosa (Wayne); nephews: Jared Stevens (Kathy), Johnny Long, and J.B. Collins (Sandra); and extended family and friends.
