Obituary for Irene Thigpen (Moreira)
Centerville, GA – Irene Moreira Thigpen, 84, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday June 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Irene was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on February 25, 1938 to the late Manuel and Ana (Duarte) Moreira. As a child Irene attended Esperito Santo and Dimon Vocational Schools. Irene prided herself on being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she enjoyed spending time with her Sunday school Promise class. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her brothers: Manuel Moreira, Fall River, MA, Joe Moreira, Fall River, MA; Sisters: Mary Golden, Fall River, MA, Genviev Marcellino, Fall River, MA, Elvira Miranda, Fall River, MA, and Louise Hereaux, Lemon, SD.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 60 years Roy Thigpen of Centerville, GA; her son Craig Thigpen (Sheila) Hardinsburg, KY; daughter Rhonda K. Douglas (Bryan)Warner Robins, GA and sister Margaret Goodall Miami, FL. Grandchildren; Melissa Douglas Jones (Garrett), Erick Dougles (Carrie) and Chance Thigpen (Sarah).Great Grandchildren; Kayden, McKenzie, Jasper, Madilynn, Harper and Mason.
