Fort Valley, GA – James “Mossy” Elvis Parton, 71, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. A service will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Bridge Church, 2758 US-41 Fort Valley, GA 31030.
James was born on December 6, 1950, in Sheffield, Alabama to the late William and Thelma (Johnson) Parton. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for many years at Robins Air Force Base. James was a faithful servant of the Bridge Church in Fort Valley. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring his 1955 Chevy, and riding his motorcycle. He was a very intelligent self-taught mechanic and the best at his work, in fact he built his own airplane. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his former wife of 50 years, Marsha (Thomas) Parton; brothers: Joe and Johnny Parton.
Left to cherish His memory is his beloved wife, Charlene Parton of Fort Valley, GA; son: James “Jimmy” Elvis Parton, Jr. of Warner Robins, GA; daughter: Amy Parton of Byron, GA; grandchildren: Briana Felder, Hayden Parton, James “Jay” Elvis Parton, III, and Olivia Ann Parton; step-son: Elgin Franklin Mayfield, Jr. (Pamela) of Warner Robins, GA; sisters: Alice Faye Faxon (Jim) of Evans, GA and Freeda Ann Parton (Rick) of Augusta, GA; brother: Brooks Parton of Macon, GA.
