Obituary for Jodie Thomas Thrasher Jr.

Warner Robins, GA – Jodie Thomas Thrasher, Jr., 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his residence. Services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with interment immediately following at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon, GA. Jodie will be honored with full military honors. Reverend Ceil Mitchell will be officiating the services. The visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services.
Jodie was born on June 13, 1928, in Birmingham, AL to the late Jodie Thomas Thrasher, Sr. and the late Myrtle Sue (Robison) Thrasher. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve, where he retired at the rank of Colonel. Jodie went on to work in civil service at Robins Air Force Base as a Supervisor Management Analyst, where he also retired. In his spare time, Jodie enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. He was also a mason and enjoyed researching family genealogy. Jodie had a strong faith and was a very active church member until his health began to decline. He was a long-time member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church. Besides his Lord, his greatest love and joy was his family.
In addition to his parents, Jodie was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte (Burnette) Thrasher; his second wife, Marian Quillen (Nichols) Thrasher; sons: John Albert Thrasher, Thomas David Thrasher, and his daughter-in-law, Pam Thrasher.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandchildren: Amber Wilkerson (Tommy) of Athens, GA, Wendy Gilbert (Edward) of Watkinsville, GA, and David Thrasher (Angela) of Warner Robins, GA; three great-grandchildren: Ansley Gilbert of Watkinsville, GA, Ella Thrasher, and Evan Thrasher both of Warner Robins, GA; daughter-in-law: Mary Thrasher (Jimmy Monk) of Centerville, GA, sister: Dorothy Taylor (Willard) of Thonotosassa, FL.
