Warner Robins, GA – Joseph Lee James, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023, at The Phoenix at Lake Joy. Services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with full military honors. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Reverend Howard Jones will be officiating the services.
Mr. James was born on December 19, 1935, in Youngstown, OH to the late Ralph and Geraldine (Scherer) James. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps for twenty-two years as a helicopter pilot. After a very successful career in the military, Mr. James went on to work for Hughes Aircraft. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins, woodworking, and growing Bonsai trees. He even served as president of the Bonsai Society. Mr. James was an amazing husband of sixty-four years to his beloved wife Arlene (Parsons) James. In addition to his parents, Mr. James was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Faber, and his daughter-law, Mary James.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Arlene James of Warner Robins; son: Joseph Lee James, Jr. of Kathleen; daughter: Lori James of Warner Robins; son: Michael Ralph James (Porntip) of Warner Robins; wonderful caregiver: Mary Hiley; special family friend: Shirley Hale.
