Obituary for Joseph George "Joe" Tooker

Kathleen, Georgia - Joseph George Tooker, a proud veteran and family man, died from complications due to COVID-19 on August 25, 2021, at the age of 71.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karen Tooker (née Franks); his children, Jon, Erin, and Jenna; his five grandchildren; his brother, David Tooker; and his much loved extended family.
Joe was born on December 2, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to Bud and Mary Tooker. After serving in the Vietnam War, he graduated from the University of Arizona in 1978 with a degree in Engineering Physics. On September 19, 1981, he married Karen, and on September 30, 1982, and June 4, 1984, he welcomed his two daughters, who along with his son were the most important part of his life (until his grandchildren came along).
Joe was a devoted father and avid woodworker. In his youth he enjoyed rock climbing and cycling, which gave way to spending time with his family and keeping fit. He was a problem-solver, a doer, a maker, and a life-long learner. He was a spiritual man and will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.
The services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm services, and immediately following the service. The family accepts flowers, but asks that any donations please be made to the Kyle Franks Foundation, 5661 N Placita Pardal, Tucson, Arizona, 85718. https://www.kylefranks.org
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
