Obituary for Carmer Robinson

Perry, GA- Lamson Carmer Robinson, 86, passed away early Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, GA. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Carmer will be laid to rest on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Lebanon Church Cemetery in Buffalo, Alabama. Reverend Roland Fall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Begin 123, a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to sharing the joy of music to children, at 2825 Highway 341 S., Hawkinsville, GA 31036.
Carmer was born on September 6, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Clyde Aubrey and Mary George (Smith) Robinson. He was a graduate of Auburn University, where he was president of the Baptist Student Union and editor of the newspaper. He retired as International Sales Director for Parkdale Textiles, and he was on the team that invented pre-washed and stretched denim. He honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict as a first lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. Carmer travelled around the world and lived in Hong Kong for five years. Carmer was heavily active in many community groups in Middle Georgia, including the Centerville and Perry Lions Clubs, Habitat for Humanity and served on the Board of Governors for Perry Players Community Theatre, were he was also an actor in many productions.
Carmer’s memory will be forever cherished by his children: Mary Leslie Robinson of Gainesville, FL, Samuel Gregory Robinson (Linda) of Camden, SC, and John Michael Carmer Robinson of Perry, GA, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
