Obituary for Lydia "Lilly" Fickler (Gonzalez)
Bonaire, GA - Lydia "Lilly" Fickler (Gonzalez), 68, passed away on Saturday October 23, 2021. The funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 11:00 am at Burpee Scott Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
Lilly was born on April 1, 1953, in Laredo, TX, the eldest of 6 children, to Ricardo and Lilia Gonzalez (Sandoval). Lilly was full of life and a loving wife and mother to her three children. While her children were growing up and playing soccer, she filled the role as “team Mom” on multiple occasions. Lilly enjoyed cutting and styling hair and did it regularly for her whole family and also for friends and neighbors on occasion. She enjoyed live music and loved going to concerts, including supporting her sons when playing in local bands. Lilly was a wonderful cook and loved to feed her family and friends. She taught the English language to Spanish speaking residents at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a generous friend to many and selflessly helped others in need whenever the opportunity arose.
Lilly earned a Master’s degree and retired from Robins Air Force Base in March 2021, after 37 years of service as a Logistician. She was a talented artist and spent much of her free time painting with friends in her art club. She also had a passion for sewing and gardening. Lilly was a vivacious woman whose spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Brian Fickler (Allison) of Kathleen, GA, Bradley Fickler of Warner Robins, GA, and Brandon Fickler of Bonaire, GA; her loving mother Lilia Gonzalez (Sandoval) of Laredo, TX; her two sisters Susana Venkatesan (Sanjeev) of Celina, TX and Araceli Jimenez (Arturo) of Laredo, TX; Aunt Elodia Perez of Laredo, TX; her two grandchildren Bryce and Caylin Fickler (Brian); and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
