Obituary for Marnie Michelle Mills

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Marnie Michelle Mills, 42, our loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend. After an extended and heroic battle with cancer she left us peacefully on February 1, 2021.

Marnie was born on July 19, 1978, in Warner Robins, GA, to Karen and Michael Mills. She graduated from Perry High School, where she played shortstop for the Lady Panthers. After graduation she remained a strong supporter of all Panther sports. A supervisor at Kohl’s Distribution Center for fifteen years, Marnie touched the lives of a host of co-workers.

Marnie lived her life with passion, love, and a rapier wit embodying the truest of souls, always genuine and honest. She would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her fairy tale relationship with her soulmate and one true love, Somer Mills, who cared for her with unparalleled devotion in all things. Together they fought this ruthless disease, side by side through it all, down to the final moment. Marnie’s beautiful smile was instantly contagious and her hugs were legendary. She loved the beach, lying by the pool, baseball, football, softball, UFC, cheese, bread, macaroni and cheese, Coke, Mountain Dew, flamingos, playing slot machines, her family, and her friends. Not necessarily in that order. She hated vegetables and hypocrites. Not necessarily in that order either. She was known for helping her friends to organize their finances and gain control of their lives. If you were fortunate enough to have Marnie befriend you, you became her family. Nothing was more important than family to Marnie and she brought joy and happiness to all lucky enough to be in her life.

Marnie is survived by her heartbroken wife, Somer Mills; daughter Makenzie Walker, mother Karen Mills (Teresa Holcomb); niece Mackenzie Daily, uncle Joseph Smith and cousin Patrick Smith (Andrea Smith), and a host of cherished friends/family. She was preceded in death by her beloved father Michael Madison Mills and her aunt Jo Ann Smith.

Due to pandemic restrictions, there will be no visitation. All services will be private. The family asks that you respect their privacy at this time.

Instead of flowers, Marnie would want us to treat each other with kindness and love and pay it forward with every opportunity.
