Obituary for Phyllis Ann Albertson

PERRY, GA- Phyllis Ann (Humphrey) Albertson, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020 with her beloved husband of sixty years by her side. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel with chaplain David Miller officiating. Mrs. Albertson will be laid to rest at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
Phyllis was born on November 29, 1931 to the late John and Dora (White) Humphrey in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She cared for others in a long career as a nurse throughout her life, most notably at Grady Memorial Hospital. At the time of her licensing in the state of Georgia, Phyllis received the highest score recorded on her nursing exams. Throughout her career she also traveled all over the world with her husband during his Air Force deployments, including to Australia, Canada and Hawaii.
She was a lifetime member of the Anglican church, in which she volunteered as both secretary and treasurer and was a founding member of Saint Francis Anglican Church in Jonesboro, Georgia. Mrs. Albertson was an accomplished musician, both as a vocalist and pianist. She trained in opera and lent the gift of her voice to many churches and weddings throughout her life. Phyllis made her house a home for her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and collecting antiques in her spare time. Phyllis will be remembered by all who knew her for her loving, humble and gentle spirit. She is preceded in death by her brother, John and grandson, Matthew.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Jimmy G. Albertson; daughter Evelyn (Wes) Davidson; grandsons, Joshua (Alana) and Michael (Katie); and great-granddaughter, Reese; daughter, Lynne (Matt) Dopko; granddaugher, Sarah (Scot) Scheffel; great-grandsons, Thomas, Issac, and Samuel; grandson, Andrew (Jackie); daughter, Merry (Glenn) Develle; and grandsons Jordan, Caleb and Micah.
The family would like to sincerely thank Heart of Georgia Hospice for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Phyllis during her final days.
