Obituary for Pratt Douglas Martin
Fort Valley, GA – Pratt Douglas Martin, 60, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at his residence. Services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with Reverends Jim Hamlin and Ken Fennell officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior and immediately following the services.
Pratt was born on November 6, 1962, in Atlanta, GA to the late Donald Boyd Martin, Sr. and the late Jewel (Roberson) Martin. After the passing of his parents, Pratt moved with his grandparents to Ideal, GA where he was raised. He faithfully served his community as a police officer with the Warner Robins Police Department until his retirement. Pratt was also a former Lieutenant with the Fort Valley Police Department, and an officer with the Oglethorpe Police Department, where he began his career in law enforcement. He had a servant’s heart, and always put others before himself, especially his family, who he loved dearly. In his spare time, Pratt enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends, and his beloved pet Coby. In addition to his parents, Pratt was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Martin.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of thirty-four years, Susan (Anthoine) Martin of Fort Valley, GA; brother: Boyd Martin (Tammy) of McDonough, GA; sisters: Charlotte Roberts (Jack) of Amelia Island, FL, and Vanessa Marlor of Gay, GA; nephew: Steve Marlor of Fort Myers, FL; nieces: Jennifer Wilson (Cory) of Frisco, TX, and Monica Lipscomb of Arlington, VA; father and mother-in-law: Edgar and Polly Anthoine of Lake Blackshear, GA; sister-in-law: Linda Belflower (Stephen) of Fort Valley, GA; great nephew: Camden Wilson; great niece: Emmie Wilson.
