Obituary for Ray Foster Powers Sr.
Byron, GA- Ray Foster Powers, Sr. 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
Ray was born on September 6, 1940 in Bostwick, GA to the late Ed Foster Powers and Bessie (Anderson) McCullum. He was the owner and operator of Powers Construction Company for many years, where he worked very hard to provide for his family. Ray was a fun-loving man, who was an excellent storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He truly enjoyed making people laugh and finding ways to help others when needed. He enjoyed gambling, fishing and Nascar, especially the Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Ray Foster Powers, Jr. and his sister, Ruby Nell Powers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Charlene (Wendell) Powers of Byron, GA; daughters: Dora Jane Browning (Mark) of Yatesville, GA and Amy Renee Powers of Byron, GA; sons: Richard Edward Powers of Biloxi, MS, Matthew Thomas Powers (Marie) of Byron, GA and Jason Allen Powers of Guyton, GA; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Vernon Powers (Marie) and Gary Powers.
