Derrick was born on February 26, 1962 to the late Raymond Melvin McCook and Gale (Pyles) McCook. He was currently employed at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as a stock Control specialist. Derrick loved gospel music, in fact he played drums for his family’s gospel group “The Family Reunion”. He loved the Thunderbirds and had dreamed as a child that someday he would be a pilot. Derrick enjoyed game shows, woodworking and watching the Atlanta Braves. He attended the Assembly of Warner Robins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Central Georgia Cancer Care and Pine Pointe Hospice for their care of Derrick.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Brenda (Thompson) McCook of Macon; daughter: Meredith McCook Grizzle (Josh) of Byron; mother: Gale McCook of Macon; sister: Radena Lane (Mark) of Macon; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
