Obituary for Retha Mae Bennett (Herrin)

Perry, GA – Retha Mae Bennett, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Houston Medical Center. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Freepoint Church with interment immediately following at Perry Memorial Gardens. The visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel and Crematory. Pastor Bobby Bishop and Brad Luke will be officiating the services.
Retha was born on October 18, 1936 in Pearson, GA to the late William Wayne and Gussie (Carver) Herrin. She worked as a Nutrition Manager for the Houston County Board of Education for many years before retiring. In her free time, Retha enjoyed cooking and baking for family, reading, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Freepoint Church, where she enjoyed the worship and fellowship. Retha was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents Retha was preceeded in death by her Husband, Leroy Bennett of 68 years, and beloved daughter Libby Joan Bennett. She was also preceeded in death by 7 brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Larry Bennett (Belinda) and Robin Joyner (Chris); grandchildren: Travis Bennett, Kevin Bennett, Brooke Arrington (Robert), Janna Bennett, Kameron Woodall (Hunter), and Bobby Baker (Leah); great-grandchildren: Tayler Bennett, Drake Arrington, Liam Woodall, Clayton Baker, Lilly Baker, and Sunni Baker; and Deborah Bennett who was as close as a daughter.
