Obituary for Richard Eugene Barry Sr.
Perry, GA – Richard Eugene Barry, Sr., 83, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Summerhill Senior Living Community. Services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with his nephew, Mr. Dennis Stubbs officiating the services.
Richard was born on August 26, 1940, in Vienna, GA to the late Wilbur and Zubie (Hopkins) Barry. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Richard went on to work as a civil service employee at Robins Air Force Base until his retirement. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud member of the Men’s Supper Club, known as the “post office”.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, James T. Barry, and Randy Neal Barry.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 58 years, Faye (Smallwood) Barry of Perry, GA; son: Dr. Richard Eugene Barry, Jr. (Dr. Josiah Evans) of Philadelphia, PA; daughter: Allison Garrett (Todd) of Perry, GA; grandchildren: Abigail Julian, Amber Howell (Cody), Trevor Garrett, and Ava Garrett; sisters: Faye Ammons of Byron, GA, and Janet Loretta Willis of Warner Robins, GA; brother-in-law: Jimmy Smallwood of Perry, GA; sisters-in-law: Betty Stubbs of Perry, GA, and Rita Barry of Warner Robins, GA; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
