Obituary for Robert Lynwood Reeves

Warner Robins, GA – Robert L. Reeves, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, GA.

Robert was born on March 28, 1926, in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Jeptha Daniel Reeves, Jr. and Ruth Mae (Mayo) Reeves. He was a graduate of Mississippi Southern College (now the University of Southern Mississippi) with a degree in Accounting. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army Air corps as a tail gunner during WWII and in 1951, received his commission into the United States Army, serving during the Korean war. He retired from the US Army at the rank of Captain. He retired from NASA in 1982, where he managed the Slidell Computer Complex.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Durwood and Lenoid, and his sister Gwendolyn, his wife of 42 years, Billie Brantley Reeves, his wife of 19 years, Carolyn (Eason) Reeves, and his son, Roddy Lynn Reeves.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Laura McCord (John) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Leigh Smith (Mark) of Amite, Louisiana, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert enjoyed football, hunting, fishing, boating and flying his personal airplanes. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Slidell, Louisiana for many years. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed telling stories about his travel and adventures.
