Obituary for Rosia Mae Davis (Wonnum)

Perry, GA – Rosia Mae (Wonnum) Davis, 86, passed away at Perry Hospital on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Services celebrating her life will be Monday, April 17, 2023, at 11:00 am at New Hope Baptist Church. The visitation will be held an hour prior. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Reverend Dennis Harden will be officiating. The family wanted to send their sincerest thanks to Heart of Georgia Hospice for being so loving and compassionate.

Rosia was born on April 28, 1936, in Thomaston, Georgia to the late James Calvin Wonnum, Sr., and the late Anna (Ivey) Wonnum. Rosia dedicated her life to the Lord at a young age and joined Salem Baptist Church. After her marriage, she joined her husband at Shiloh Baptist Church. Having a strong Christian belief, she became a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church after being widowed.

Rosia was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and tending to her roses. Rosia’s favorite thing to do was care for her children. Her family was her biggest blessing. She not only cared for her children, but many in the community depended on her to bless them with childcare assistance. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, Rosia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie B. Davis, and her precious daughter, Vivian Cunningham.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Samuel Leon Wonnum of Perry, GA, and Drenon Everett (Doris) of Fort Valley, GA; daughters: Vernita Rawls of Perry, GA, Lakeitha Holmes (Curtis) of Fort Valley, GA, and Patrice Davis of Warner Robins, GA, son-in-law Kenny Cunningham of Thomaston, GA; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; step-sons: Lorenza Davis of Oglethorpe, GA; Eugene Davis of Reynolds, GA; Bobby Childs (Rose) of Unadilla, GA, Steve Askew (Lois), step-daughter: Sandra Harris of Warner Robins, GA; sisters: Lousie Traylor of Yatesville, GA and Geneva Wonnum of Salem, GA; brothers: James Calvin Wonnum, Jr. (Earnestine) of Salem, GA and Fred Wonnum of Perry, GA; Ms. Eva Law of Perry, GA, a devoted family friend who was like a daughter; and her caregiver: Denise Davis of Perry, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
