Reynolds, GA – Samuel “Sammy” Booker McCrary, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville, GA. Services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Crowell United Methodist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The visitation for family and friends will be held beginning at 1:00 pm until service at 2:30 pm. Lynn Martin will be officiating the services. Sammy was born on April 8, 1928, in Reynolds, GA to the late George and Suzie (Young) McCrary. He was a 1945 graduate of Taylor County High School, where he was the Salutatorian. He worked approximately 15 years as a clerk at GRESCO in Reynolds, GA before his retirement. Sammy was a former member of the Taylor County Board of Education. He was the first strawberry grower in the Central Georgia area. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed experimenting with many gardening projects. Sammy will missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Martha (Jackson) McCrary of Reynolds, GA; sons: David McCrary (Delane) of Reynolds, GA, and Bob McCrary (Judy) of Manchester, GA; daughter: Amy McCrary Walton (Jim) of Fort Valley, GA; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
