Tommy was born on December 19, 1953, in Warner Robins, GA to the late James and Attys (Kinnett) Spires. He proudly and honorably served his community with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired as a Lieutenant. Tommy’s last post was overseeing the Houston County Court House in Perry, GA. He served as past president of the Peace Officers Association, was affectionately known as the Mayor of Bonaire, and was a member of the infamous Meal Team 6 that patrolled and protected the Houston County Fair Grounds during the Georgia National Fair. Tommy loved to eat at his favorite restaurant, White Diamond Grill in Bonaire. He enjoyed attending tractor shows and was extremely proud of his restored Ford Tractor. If you knew Tommy, you loved him. He was a giant of a man with an even bigger heart. He loved his dogs, Moo Moo and Stevie Tom Tom, but his greatest joy and love was his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his nephew, Brent Giddens.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carol (Kluge) Spires of Bonaire; daughters: Tiffany Spires of Warner Robins, Lesley Spires of Bonaire, and Nicki Spires of Warner Robins; grandchildren: Cody Head, Callie Jane Head, and Kannon Tabor; sisters: Frances Smith of Bonaire and Carolyn Spires Hurst of Warner Robins; niece: Tracy Smith McBride; nephews: David Giddens and Dusty Spires.
