Obituary for Thomas "Tom" Daniel Maloy Jr.

Hawkinsville, GA - Capt. Thomas D. Maloy (USMC, Ret.), 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Tom was born on April 29, 1934, in rural Henry County, Georgia, to the late Thomas D. Maloy, Sr, and Mary Ruth Thomas Maloy. He was the last living member of his original 13-member family of 11 children. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1953-1974. After his retirement, he became a successful HVAC contractor (owner/operator) in Henry County and Butts County, Georgia, until his retirement in 1997, when he became a resident of Houston County, Georgia. His family was so proud of his life, love, and legacy. He was a proud patriot and career Marine. Tom especially enjoyed living on his farm in rural Houston County the last 16 years.

Tom’s memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 66 ½ years, Mrs. Lois B. Maloy of Hawkinsville, Georgia, and his daughters and sons-in-law, Jan Maloy Morton (Gary), Hawkinsville, Georgia; Joan Maloy Wilson (Wayne), Monticello, Georgia; and Jo Maloy Hall, (Rick), Warner Robins, Georgia. Tom was preceded in death by daughter, Jean Maloy Howard. Tom was beloved Pawpaw to 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, June 2, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Haynesville First Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the worship center of Haynesville First Baptist. A private burial will follow later in the cemetery of Zion Baptist Church, Covington, Georgia.

Services will be conducted by his grandson, Dr. Jeremy Morton, Pastor of First Baptist Woodstock, Georgia, and Rev. David Fisher, Pastor of Haynesville First Baptist Church.
