Obituary for Warren Allen Hunt

Perry, GA – Warren Allen Hunt, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at The Lodge in Warner Robins, GA. Services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 3:15 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with his son, Matthew Hunt officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the services.

Allen was born on December 23, 1943, in Macon, GA to the late Reverend George Riley Hunt, Sr. and the late Lilla Estelle (Greene) Hunt. He was affectionately known as “Big A” among his family and friends. Allen was a 1961 graduate of Perry High School and a 1965 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. Allen faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked in the administration office of the Houston County Board of Education from which he retired. He was former upper administrator for Pabst in the accounting department. Allen was also known as a very detailed and organized person, who uniquely enjoyed excel sheets. In his spare time, Allen was an avid tennis player, enjoyed fishing, and boating, especially fast jet boats. He was a dedicated family man, who was extremely protective and loving of each one.

In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Marion Hunt.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Hunt of Perry, GA; daughter: Cynthia “Cyn” Hunt (Jill) of Perry, GA; son: Matthew Hunt (Jessica) of Perry, GA; grandchildren: Braxton and Briggs; brother: Riley Hunt of Perry, GA; sister: Mary Wilson of Kathleen, GA; nieces: Connie Germundsen, Melissa Hunt, Melinda Hunt, Tina Emre, Jessica Fitch, Holly Bradford, and Angel Johnson; nephews: George Hunt, David Hunt, Tommy Shelnutt, and Dan Shelnut.
