Perry, GA- Mr. Wayne G. “W.G.” Hagen was born on 27 December 1947 to Genevie A. and Frederick C. Hagen in Springfield, IL.
Wayne was raised in Pleasant Plains, IL where he graduated from the Pleasant Plains High School. He was active in the Future Farmers of America during high school and helped his father raise hogs, pigs and corn. In July of 1966, Wayne enlisted in the Air Force. He attended the USAF Air Frame Repair technical school in Amarillo, TX. He graduated as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic. Throughout his 12 + years in the military, he was stationed at McConnell AFB, Whiteman AFB, Seymour Johnson AFB, Myrtle Beach AFB and served in England, Germany, Thailand and Vietnam. Mr. Hagen was honorably discharged in June of 1979.
After his time in the Air Force, Wayne was hired by Hawaiian Air Cargo located at the Macon airport which eventually became Zantop Airlines. In 1991 he was granted the Airframe & Power Plant license from the FAA. While working at Zantop, he ran the sheet metal department for 9 of his 17 years. He later was hired at First Support Services, Robins AFB, as a dispatcher working on call and weekends. Several years later he retired.
Through the years Wayne enjoyed woodworking, making numerous decorations for the Moose Lodge and friends.
Mr. Hagen was a life member of the Warner Robins Moose Lodge #1688 where he was elected to numerous positions and earned the Fellowship Degree. He was also a life member of the VFW post 6605.
Mr. Hagen is survived by 4 children; 3 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and his best friend, Sharry, the love of his life.
A memorial service will be held on September 29, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the Warner Robins Moose Lodge, 400 Carl Vinson Pkwy., Warner Robins, GA 31088. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
