Obituary for Winfield Scott "Windy" Bennett Sr.

Byron, GA – Winfield “Windy” Scott Bennett, Sr., 97, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Canopy in Warner Robins, GA. Windy will be laid to rest next to his wife in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Windy was born on September 14, 1925, in Winter Garden, FL to the late James Morgan and Eula Mary (Scott) Bennett. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he served in WWII as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Windy was known for his Christian beliefs and being a sharp dressed man, finishing it off underneath his Stetson. He was a very skilled and hardworking man, who owned a successful cabinet business prior to owning and operating Keystone Safe and Lock as a locksmith. He was an excellent carpenter, locksmith, and a talented square dancer. In his spare time, he enjoyed square dancing, collecting gadgets of all kinds, and trapping alligators.
In addition to his parents, Windy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mae Belle (Hall) Bennett and his daughter, Brenda D. Owings.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Winfield “Scott” Bennett, Jr. (Janet) of Byron, GA; grandchildren: Matthew Scott Bennett and Mary Lola Kenworthy; four great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister: Nina Pearce (Harold) of Lagrange, GA.
